Upward Darting Action
Keels on both sides of the body allow the Sakamata Shad to naturally produce the upward darting action of a fleeing baitfish with a simple hookset-like snap of the rod, easily triggering a bass's predatory instincts.
When fished weightless, it imitates an ayu or hasu fleeing across the surface and occasionally bursting out of the water. When fishing the bottom with a split-shot or Carolina rig, work it with an upward darting action that imitates a baitfish suddenly reacting to a nearby bass, jumping off the bottom, and disappearing again. Worked this way, the Sakamata Shad delivers its full potential and readily triggers bites.

Body Design
The smooth, streamlined body has no unnecessary protrusions, reducing water resistance and making it easy to produce a sharp darting action while increasing the distance of its momentum-driven glide. It also handles high-speed darting retrieves, allowing anglers to fool bass and trigger reaction bites even in open water.
Salt content is 5% in the 8-inch, 7-inch, and 4-inch models (0% in the upper portion of the body), 10% in the 6-inch, 5-inch, and 4.5-inch models, while the 3-inch, 2.5-inch, and 2-inch models are non-salted. The material has increased tensile strength for better hook retention, helping reduce tearing and damage to the soft plastic.
Hook-setting guide marks are molded into the body to help you rig the hook straight without bending or distorting the bait.
*Models 3 inches and smaller feature a solid body without deep grooves.
*Colors may appear different depending on salt content.
Heavy Weight Material
The Heavy Weight models feature salt content pushed to the limit. This eliminates the inconsistencies that can result from manually adding weight and makes it easier to produce the Sakamata Shad's signature action from the mid-water column down to the bottom.
8 inch = 65% (41.0g), 7 inch = 70% (28.0g), 6 inch = 75% (17.0g), and 5 inch = 75% (11.3g). The upper portion of each model contains 0% salt, creating a low center of gravity that keeps the bait balanced and produces a stable action without breaking its posture, helping trigger bites.
*Due to the high salt content, the Heavy Weight material has a cloudier appearance than the Normal material.
*The 7-inch model also contains high-density glass sand.
Fin
The fins are essential to the Sakamata Shad's signature upward darting action. As the fins catch the water, they redirect the flow downward, causing the bait to kick upward. They also act as rudders, keeping the bait on track and stabilizing its darting action.
Tail
The split tail follows the bait's darting action with a natural flutter, moving realistically like the tail fin of a fleeing baitfish.
Recommended Rigs
Action
Rigging the hook with the body slightly arched increases the effect of the keels, producing a quicker, more aggressive upward dart with an erratic action. This irregular darting presentation is one of the most effective ways to fish the Sakamata Shad.
