The tungsten-alloy head has approximately 30% less volume than lead, reducing air resistance and helping a light jig head reach farther. Its hard material improves bite and bottom feedback. Short-shank, open-gape, gold-plated hooks are available in #12, #10 and #8. The round head reduces cross-current resistance, while a cup helps maintain depth.
