Is it safe to ship fishing rods?

We take special care when shipping fishing rods. We ship fishing rods in special heavy-duty cardboard designed for construction materials. We used to use cylindrical boxes, but switched to rectangular ones for greater strength. Since adopting this packaging method, we have not experienced any shipping incidents.

Please also review the information below regarding what to do if the product breaks.

If product is broken

If the delivered item is damaged, it may be eligible for compensation. You may be able to receive a replacement product or a refund.

We carefully package and ship our products, and it is extremely rare for items to be damaged before reaching you. A broken product likely experienced significant impact during transit.

First and foremost, please keep all delivered items, including the damaged product and its packaging materials, without discarding them. To receive compensation, you must submit the damaged product and packaging materials to the shipping company.

At that time, please take photos of the delivery slip, the damaged product, and the packaging materials used, and send them to us. We will contact the shipping company and request an investigation into the product damage.

When we request an investigation from the delivery company, they will contact you. Please coordinate a date and time with the delivery company and hand over the damaged product, packaging materials, and delivery slip.

The shipping company will collect the damaged product for inspection. If the product is confirmed to have been damaged during transit, the shipping company will provide compensation. Once compensation is confirmed, we can either resend a new product or issue a refund.

If you are unable to cooperate with the survey, we will be unable to ship a replacement or issue a refund. Please note that the investigation process may take some time.

About Parts Sales

Brands such as SHIMANO and DAIWA allow customers to purchase individual parts for fishing rods and reels. Please let us know the details of the parts you need.

Additionally, since the products we sell are primarily intended for the Japanese market, we are often unable to accept repair requests from outside Japan. Therefore, the process typically involves sending the product to Japan for repair and then having it returned, which incurs round-trip shipping costs and customs duties.

Therefore, you may be able to save money by opting not to use the product warranty and instead purchasing only the damaged parts rather than having the entire item repaired. Brands such as SHIMANO and DAIWA offer replacement parts for even the smallest components, allowing for flexible solutions. We can advise you on whether repairing the item or purchasing only the damaged parts is the more cost-effective option, so please feel free to contact us if you need repairs.

When the amount of customs duties is high

If you feel that the amount of customs duties you are being charged is higher than expected, it is possible that this is due to an error by customs officials in your country. In that case, you can submit a request to have the tax rate corrected.

In the United States in particular, due to President Trump’s policies, customs duty rates are calculated based on extremely complex rules, and customs laws and rates are frequently revised. As a result, errors by customs officials occur quite frequently.

We believe that if the customs duties charged are unreasonably high, they should be corrected.

First, although we deeply regret this, please pay the duties based on the incorrect rate. Then, submit a “Customs Duty Dispute Form” to the carrier and request an adjustment to the correct duty rate. This should enable you to receive a refund for the overpayment. Please note that correcting this duty may take time, and a refund from U.S. Customs is not guaranteed.

Frankly speaking, as our company is based in Japan, there are limitations to the latest customs duties information we can access. That said, we believe that it is unacceptable for customers to suffer financial loss due to unreasonably high charges, and such charges should be corrected. We will provide all possible assistance within our capacity, such as preparing necessary documents, to help you revise the customs duties.
