The continuous shank-to-bend curve allows the rear of a fly body to sit slightly below the surface, while conventional patterns can be tied on the straight shank. A calculated angle between curve and straight section provides strength and holding in a barbless design. Slight rearward balance lets the bend and point settle below the surface for stable, natural drifts.
