A dedicated hover-strolling hook with a DIY bait keeper.
Fit heat-shrink tubing to form a keeper. The entry angle prioritizes penetration to account for the delay caused by line mending, allowing line resistance to engage the point before full hooksetting force arrives. A Limerick bend adds a little wire mass to encourage rolling. Compact proportions and relatively heavy wire reduce visible size while providing strength for large bass. Cut the tube end diagonally, slide it on from the point, align and shrink at 90–100°C, taking care to avoid burns. Additional cuts can create multiple keepers.
