After a jerk, the jig settles into a horizontal posture and flutters with a rolling motion that produces vibration and flashes of light. Its slightly forward center of gravity limits backward sliding, helping it hover horizontally and remain within the target depth range. The distinctive peaked cross section also stabilizes the fall, making it easier to locate the bottom and work specific depths accurately.
